Abstract

Motorcycle is one of the means of transportation used by the general public because it saves fuel and is easier to use for daily activities. The sprocket gear functions as a transfer of power (rotational power from the engine to the rear wheels), so that the motor can work optimally and produce better performance. Replacement of the sprocket ratio can be done to find out how much it affects the vehicle's performance so that it can be used according to the needs and road conditions. The purpose of the research on changes in the sprocket ratio is to determine the power and torque produced from each size of the sprocket ratio of a motorcycle. This research method is focused on the comparison of the power and torque of a motorcycle. Based on the results of testing and data processing, there is an increase in power of 0.2 Hp or in a percentage of about 1.4% at the sprocket ratio variation 14/39 with a maximum power output of 14.1 HP at engine speed of 8000 Rpm to the standard sprocket ratio 14/41 which has a power of 13.9 Hp at engine speed of 8000 Rpm. There is an increase in torque of 0.35 Nm or a percentage of about 2.48% at the sprocket ratio of the 14/38 variation having a maximum torque of 14.41 Nm at 5000 rpm engine speed against the standard sprocket ratio of 14/41 having a torque of 14.06 Nm at 5000 rpm engine speed.
