Abstract

Archimedes Spiral Wind Turbine (ASWT) is a spiral structured turbine that uses the Archimedes principle. ASWT utilizes energy from the wind by changing the direction of air flow 90% relative to the direction of wind attack, with a pressure difference between upstream and downstream. The Archimedes Wind Turbine can work at wind speeds between 3.5 – 4.5 m/s, with rotations produced between 300 – 500 Rpm. The purpose of this study is to determine the wind speed generated by the rotation of the Archimedes Wind Turbine and to determine the power generated by the Archimedes Wind Turbine. The conclusion of the study is that at a wind speed of 3.4 (m/s) the turbine turns 69.3 (Rpm), the wind speed increases 8.3 (m/s) to get a turbine rotation of 83.9 (Rpm), and when the wind speed is 12 .8 (m/s) obtained turbine rotation of 129.5 (Rpm). Whereas at a wind speed of 3.4 (m/s) you get 1.2 (Watts) of Power, the wind speed increases to 8.3 (m/s) you get 1.68 (Watts) of Power, and when the wind speed is 12.8 ( m/s) gain Power 4 (Watt).
