Abstract

To improve performance in marine ship component repair services, an area is needed as a temporary storage place for parts that will be or will be repaired using the first in first out method. The storage area for marine ship parts is in the form of a hallway between buildings with a volume of 1000 x 2000 x 5000 mm3. The types of marine ship components that are often repaired are cylinder heads, intercoolers, cooler covers with a maximum spare part weight of 1000 kilograms. The limited placement of ship parts requires a material handling system from the container in the arrival area to the storage area. The type of material handling system used is in the form of a trolley so that it can be flexible in choosing a location and easy to maintain. The dimensions of the trolley used are 800 x 600 x 500 mm3, based on calculations the trolley shows that it can withstand a load of 1000 kilograms where the capacity of each trolley wheel is 300 kilograms/wheel and the mass of the trolley is 70 kilograms, after analysis using Solidwork Scissors software the trolley can withstand a load of 1500 kilograms . The results of experiments that have been carried out are that the trolley can function well and can lift a piston weighing 285 kilograms, an inter cooler of 240 kilograms, a cylinder head of 320 kilograms and can be used to lift and move the cylinder head and inter cooler of 560 kilograms simultaneously.
