Abstract

Reinforcement bar splicing plays an important role in determining structural strength and construction efficiency. This study compares three types of splices—welding, coupler press, and threaded coupler—in terms of quality and cost. Quality was evaluated through tensile tests on uniform rebar specimens, while cost analysis considered materials, equipment, labor, and execution time. The results show that welding splice achieved an average tensile strength of 222.8 kN, coupler press splice 250.1 kN, and threaded coupler splice 192.7 kN. In terms of cost, welding splice proved to be the most economical with a total cost of Rp297,893, followed by coupler press at Rp451,253, and threaded coupler at Rp519,953. Therefore, coupler press provides the best quality, welding is the most cost-efficient option, while threaded coupler offers the lowest strength with the highest cost, making it the least efficient choice for practical application
